Someone asked me,
"How do you interpret Hebrews 12:4?"
Hebrews 12:14
Follow peace with all men,
and holiness,
without which no man shall see the Lord:
This is what I have to say.
Thematically Hebrews is written in AD63.
7 years before the temple and Jerusalem were destroyed.
It is basically a letter written to the Jews
to tell them that the new covenant is better than the old.
It serves also as a warning to the Jewish Christians
not to turn back to the Law
and that if they do they will be destroyed.
How you ask?
By the Roman invasion.
So when the writer speaks about the heavens and the stars are being shaken
it speaks about the elements in the temple.
It has nothing to do with outer space.
That's because the temple was "heaven and earth" to them.
Now Hebrews 12 was basically an encouragement to get them to leave Jerusalem.
The Jews were unwilling because they thought that it was their holy city.
God was about to change that.
The old temple and city were going to be destroyed.
They were about to become
the new temple
and the new Jerusalem.
So they were asked to flee from Jerusalem.
These Hebrews believed the word
and are the 144,000 Jews mentioned in Revelation 7.
So that's how you interpret Hebrews 12.
The holiness here is regards of embracing the holiness mentioned in Hebrews 10.
Not from the Law and the sacrifices at the temple
but by the finished work of Jesus.

By the which will we are sanctified
through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
The discipline Hebrews 12 speaks about
is getting ready to leave Jerusalem.
It has nothing to do with us.

5 ways the “gospel” of religion damages children:
(1) Telling children that they are born into this world intrinsically bad, absent of inherent worth, and repulsive to God.
(2) Telling children that their sinfulness is so bad that it left God no choice but to brutalize, torture and execute his son.
(3) Telling children that there is nothing good inside of them and that they should not trust their thoughts and feelings.
(4) Using fear and shame to manipulate children into adopting a certain belief-system about God.
(5) Teaching children that the rejection, hatred or diminishment of other human beings is an expression of devotion to God.
If we experience the inner anarchy we need as adults, perhaps we can spare our children from these wounds of religion.

We tend to think of freedom as escape FROM something.

Embracing our freedom will often put us as odds with the people and world around us.

Isn't it interesting that Jesus picked a paralyzed man to forgive sins.
A person who lost complete list of limbs to forgive sins?

Here we also see Jesus defining an evil heart.
It is one who becomes jealous when people are forgiven.
How ironic.
We also see here for the first time, sins maybe forgiven on earth.
This term "on earth" is a clear contrast to "in heaven".
What Jesus is saying here is this.
The temple is no longer the place sins can be forgiven.
The new place where sins [are] forgiven
is in the presence of Jesus.

These speak about the destruction of the Holy City of Jerusalem in AD70.
Yet at the same breath he speaks about people from east to west reclining with Abraham.
He is speaking about a day where a new city of Jerusalem
where the Gentiles will become children of Abraham.

Revelation is a book about two women/cities that are two wives ( the harlot is a widowed wife, Rev. 18:7
while the bride is a betrothed wife, Rev. 19:7;).
The unfaithful widowed wife
(who became a widow when she had her Husband, her covenant partner, Jesus, killed, see Matt. 21:5)
is destroyed while the betrothed wife becomes married (Rev. 19:1-11).
The subject of Revelation is the same as that of Galatians 4:21-31.
Paul and John are writing in the same spirit of the covenant.
In Galatians 4 we are see two women/cities that are two wives;
like Revelation, one is cast out and the other receives her inheritance.
In Galatians of the two women/cities, one is the heavenly Jerusalem and the other earthly Jerusalem.
Paul explains that these “things are symbolic, for these are the two covenants”
and those who were part of them (Gal. 4:24).
It is exactly the same in Revelation.
We are being shown two women/cities, the heavenly Jerusalem and Babylon,
which are symbolic of the new and old covenant communities.
It is obvious that the heavenly Jerusalem of Galatians corresponds to the New Jerusalem of Revelation
(which comes down out of heaven, Rev. 21:2).
Given the context of the covenant curses of Revelation and the Temple/priestly elements associated with Babylon,
it should be equally as obvious that she corresponds to the earthly Jerusalem of Galatians 4:24-25
(a symbol of those who were still clinging on the old covenant)
The harlot is arrayed in the colors and materials of the Temple and the priesthood.
The other woman, the bride is clothed in the glory of Jesus.

And when he had said these things, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight.
Luke 21:27
And then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
The "like manner" which many supposedly quote is not a physical return. It's a return in the clouds.
A return in the clouds signify the end of an era and judgment.
It is a reference to Daniel's prophecy and the son of Man's coming.
This prophecy was fulfilled at the end of the 490 years which took place when Stephen was stoned to death.
Acts 7:55-56
But he, full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. And he said, “Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God.”
Note he was no longer seated. He was already standing.
Daniel 7:13-14
The Son of Man Is Given Dominion
“I saw in the night visions,
and behold, with the clouds of heaven
there came one like a son of man,
and he came to the Ancient of Days
and was presented before him.
And to him was given dominion
and glory and a kingdom,
that all peoples, nations, and languages
should serve him;
his dominion is an everlasting dominion,
which shall not pass away,
and his kingdom one
that shall not be destroyed.
Note again the reference to the clouds.
Please note what historians have to say about AD70.
Josephus (A.D. 75) - Jewish Historian
"Besides these [signs], a few days after that feast, on the one- and-twentieth day of the month Artemisius, [Jyar,] a certain prodigious and incredible phenomenon appeared; I suppose the account of it would seem to be a fable, were it not related by those that saw it, and were not the events that followed it of so considerable a nature as to deserve such signals; for, before sun-setting, chariots and troops of soldiers in their armour were seen running about among the clouds, and surrounding of cities.
Moreover, at that feast which we call Pentecost, as the priests were going by night into the inner [court of the] temple, as their custom was, to perform their sacred ministrations, they said that, in the first place, they felt a quaking, and heard a great noise, and after that they heard a sound as of a great multitude, saying, "Let us remove hence" (Jewish Wars, VI-V-3).
“A supernatural apparition was seen, too amazing to be believed.
What I am now to relate would, I imagine, be dismissed as imaginary, had this not been vouched for by eyewitnesses, then followed by subsequent disasters that deserved to be thus signalized.
For before sunset chariots were seen in the air over the whole country, and armed battalions speeding through the clouds and encircling the cities.” (rendered in Chilton)
Tacitus (A.D. 115) - Roman historian
"13. Prodigies had occurred, but their expiation by the offering of victims or solemn vows is held to be unlawful by a nation which is the slave of superstition and the enemy of true beliefs. In the sky appeared a vision of armies in conflict, of glittering armour.
A sudden lightning flash from the clouds lit up the Temple. The doors of the holy place abruptly opened, a superhuman voice was heard to declare that the gods were leaving it, and in the same instant came the rushing tumult of their departure.
Few people placed a sinister interpretation upon this. The majority were convinced that the ancient scriptures of their priests alluded to the present as the very time when the Orient would triumph and from Judaea would go forth men destined to rule the world." (Histories, Book 5, v. 13).
So you see he had already returned. He now dwells in us.
What is our concern is that, we had been trying to use our gentile education to interpret what coming in like manner is. He ascended into the clouds, he had also defended from the clouds.

You cannot teach grace without telling people the age of the Mosaic Law ended in AD70.
Today many grace preachers teach that the church is in mixture
as if it is possible to do that because we labour under the impression the old covenant is fading away.
When the writer quoted this in Hebrews 8,
he was referring to his time which was in AD63.
The law was fulfilled in Jesus and began to fade away on the cross.
It finally faded away in AD70 when "heaven and earth",
which is the old temple was utterly destroyed.
So it's impossible to be in mixture.
The church was in mixture only from the time Jesus came and this mixture ended in AD70.
The church is fully in grace now.
We don't tell them they are in mixture.
What we need to tell them that is they are under a wrong age and mistaken covenant.

7 REASONS WHY THE BOOK OF REVELATION IS NOT IN YOUR FUTURE (PT 1)
Revelation 1:1-3 reveals the theme of the prophecy but also the timing...
"the time is at hand" and "these things must shortly come to pass."
We have to ask ourselves what those first readers of the book would have understood it to mean.
The word "time" is kairos.
It means the divinely appointed time is at hand, near, about to unfold.
It's clear then that the opening message of the book tells us that these things were not intended to be fulfilled in an indefinite future thousands of years later, but in THEIR lifetime. It was very soon to THEM. Unless of course we think Jesus and the angels lied.
One of the most well attested realities of history is the destruction of the holy city Jerusalem, the temple, the priesthood, and sacrifices by Rome in 70AD by fire.
Yet many modern scholars act as if something that significant is not spoken of by the apostles. As further reasons will show, there are many many references in the NT that people try to apply to our future, when in fact it was in THEIR future.
Malachi 4 predicted the coming of Elijah whom Jesus identifies as John the Baptist. Malachi says he was sent to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, lest he come and strike the earth/land with a curse. That curse is the curses of the Law which can only come on covenant Israel.
Notice the words of JB-
7But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming for baptism, he said to them, “You brood of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? 8“Therefore bear fruit in keeping with repentance; 9and do not suppose that you can say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham for our father’; for I say to you that from these stones God is able to raise up children to Abraham. 10“The axe is already laid at the root of the trees; therefore every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. (Mt 3)
In fact, John the Baptist spoke of a wrath that was, according to the tense of the Greek, SOON, (mello) ABOUT TO BE ON THE VERGE OF COMING. There was a wrath coming on Jerusalem and it was so close the ax was already at the root and the fire was near.
This is the same message of imminent danger for Jerusalem and the trial that was coming quickly on the land in the book of Revelation.
Fourteen chapters into the book of Revelation we find John Speaking of the First-Fruits Remnant of Jewish Believers (see also Rev. 7 where they are defined as coming from the 12 tribes).
There can only be one time period called the FIRST-fruits. The first century.
James 1:1, 18,
James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ,
To the twelve tribes (of Israel) in the Dispersion... Of his own will he brought US forth by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of FIRSTFRUITS of his creatures.
Revelation 14-
3and they were singing a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and before the elders. No one could learn that song except the 144,000 who had been redeemed from the earth. 4It is these who have not defiled themselves with women, for they are chaste. It is these who follow the Lamb wherever he goes. These have been redeemed from mankind as FIRSTFRUITS for God and the Lamb..

The Raptureless Story
When I was 19 years old, the Holy Spirit began to reveal the correct end time view to me. Over the next ten years I read and studied voraciously. Then in 2012, I wrote a blog.
That blog caused quite a stir and a flood of questions. So I wrote another blog and then another. By the time 3 months had gone by, I had compiled the first edition of Raptureless out of the blogs I had written.
A year later, I published the second edition, which was twice as large and included 90 pages on the Book of Revelation.
Now, almost four years on, the first two editions are out of print, and the Third Edition is now available. It is a Black Bonded Leather hardcover.
Here's what's new:
An Extremely thorough edit, as the earlier editions had many typos
It is now divided into three sections: The PAST destruction, the PRESENT kingdom, and the FUTURE when heaven fills earth. This was done because some individuals felt that they couldn't figure out where we are presently in world history and what is remaining in the future.
The Israel chapter has been moved to the Appendix, as this was the most controversial chapter and caused a lot of people to trip over it and not complete reading the book.
The detailed treatment of Matthew 24 has been moved up to be the first chapter, as this is the most gripping and convincing chapter.
The Archaic writing in the Matthew 24 chapter has been updated on a whole new level to be more user friendly.
The warning at the beginning of the Matthew 24 chapter has been removed, as it was dissuading too many people from reading it.
The History of dispensationalism chapter has been moved to the appendix as well. This was another controversial chapter and wasn't helping the earlier editions by being the first chapter.
Overall, you will find that the four years of processing that have accumulated in this version of Raptureless have now made the third edition extremely palatable. It has been refined and reworked into a work of art that will not need updating for many years. If you have only read the free version (1st edition) online, then it is time to buy the third edition and get caught up on the missing pieces.
If you are wondering where to find The Art of Revelation, it is being separated into its own expanded edition, I am aiming for early 2016.
