the persecuted are :
1. the cloud of witnesses believing in the coming Christ
2. the Son of Man
3. the "made righteous" in Jesus.

We are dead to sin,
so it is not a struggle against sin or sinners
...consider Him who endured such contradiction of sinners against Himself...
H12:3
...contradiction means gainsayer (opposer)...
Mary Magdeline was a sinner but not an opposer of grace ...
Jesus came to justify sinners.
... so sinners, here, means the self-righteous
who oppose the gift of righteousness.
... in vs4
.. you have not yet resisted unto blood ...
the focus is on gainsayer not "moral sin",
only opposers make you bleed !!
... it is the unbelieving in grace,
the self-righteous,
the legalists,
who will persecute you.
It is their "sin that doth easily besets, the sanctified".
